Flatow High School is Germany’s elite School of the Year 2009
The German Olympic Sports Federation (DOSB) and the German Savings Banks and Giro Association (DSGV) draw an annual or more elite schools of sport with the title “elite School of the Year”. Thus the school with the most successful results in the promotion of young athletes in Germany will be rewarded.
Since 2006 already the Werner Seelenbinder School received this award, was presented at the New Year reception of the DOSB in Frankfurt / Main, the Flatow High School in Berlin for their successful work with the title “elite school of 2009 honored.
The Flatow High School as part of the school and competitive sports center in Berlin, was selected a school in Berlin, where it very well succeed in targeted support for talented sports students in the sports of canoeing, rowing, sailing, surfing and football. Students of these schools have in the past year with great success in the Olympics, World and European championships in adult and youth cut off.
On behalf of the school attended the successful canoeists, Norman Bröckl (bronze medalist at the Olympic Games and multiple world champion) and Marcus Gross (student of the school class of 2010 and bronze medals at the
World and European Championships 2009), together with the deputy headteacher, Kerstin Gießler the award in Frankfurt to meet.
The Senator for Education, Science and Research, Prof. Dr. E. Jürgen Zöllner was particularly pleased to receive this award because it shows that “in Berlin outstanding conditions have been created for talented sports students at the elite schools of sport success to promote. The creation of the school and competitive sports center in Berlin is part of a broader concept of the systematic promotion of talent in the Berlin schools. I wish the young
Athletes every success and happiness, the sports capital Berlin represented continue to be so worthy. “
The award is endowed with 10,000 €.
