Recently, there were increased reports of misconduct by union fans. This is expressed by the President of the 1st FC Union Berlin, Dirk Zingler in the interview.
Mr. Zingler, lately there are increasing reports of misconduct by union fans. How to position itself to the club?
Without wishing to belittle the things must be noted here, first, that it is in the apparent number of incidents in order to entirely different events, which were also involved in many different individuals or groups. The only commonality: They were all apparently as a supporter of the 1st FC Union Berlin recognizable. It is important that such things are diversified too, so you can selectively take countermeasures. Generalizations help any further.
The incident yesterday at the indoor tournament is unacceptable! Football thrives on rivalry, but a non-physical attacks are intolerable transgression. The appearance in the Olympic Stadium is just embarrassing and stupid at the same. I imagine now, we are in a relegation battle and have a visit from Charlottenburg, which behaves like that. You can thank Hertha only that they have reacted so calmly.
Specifically, what happens to people violate our rules?
I want to be happy even in principle, and very clearly say: We do not tolerate anyone in our ranks that violates our values and damage the reputation of the club. If perpetrators have been identified, we will exclude them and make sure that they visit for an indefinite period no longer allowed to football matches in Germany. Each of the association harm from the outside or from within, is the enemy of the 1st FC Union Berlin. A hiding behind a group there will be no more. Either the group itself provides order, or the club does. When the whole group is bad for the club, we will fight the group.
The vast majority of European Union has made in recent years for wonderful headlines. The positive image of the club, we will not be damaged by the actions of individuals. Those who publicly as a union arises, should know that it affects his behavior with the perception of the club. We therefore ask our supporters to take up this responsibility and action in line with the values of the 1st FC Union Berlin are not compatible, contrary to connect to.
What can a society ever make yourself. For what it is responsible, when starts and ends when his or her responsibility for the conduct of his own supporters?
Of course, we have a responsibility and take this truth too. We have a well-organized fan support, preventative work and more and more the call to the organized fan groups. We design for years a very fanorientierte Association policies. Fans run the club. This way we will be continuing. Working for our jurisdiction, therefore, in our own games and events, with our own stewards to look after means of access to the games and prepare extensively before each game. There, it is consistently confront misconduct. But it belongs to a serious contemplation of things to know his limitations. We have tens of thousands of supporters and sympathizers. We as a society can not control the behavior of the individual or influence in his spare time. The responsibility lies with the person themselves, not with the club. We do what is possible, but also the fan or sympathizer of the 1st FC Union Berlin is a part of society, with all the problems and faults.
Mr. Zingler, thank you for the interview.
